The National Fire Protection Association's 211 is used as a standard for chimneys, fireplaces, vents, and solid fuel burning appliances. The NFPA classifies chimney and venting system inspections into three levels. Each level defines specific criteria and a specific scope of work.
If your chimney and venting system is readily accessible for annual inspections and during routine cleaning then a Level 1 inspection is performed to ensure that your chimney structure is sound and free of creosote, other combustible deposits, and obstructions. A level one inspection will verify the usability of the chimney or flue for continued services. Level 1 inspections are $85.00.
A Level II inspection of your fireplace for the following instances:
A Level II inspection includes everything in a Level I inspection, but also includes an Interior chimney inspection by a video camera. Level 2 inspection is $175.
We do not perform level three inspections at this time. This level is used for areas that are not readily accessible, where Levels 1 and 2 inspections can not be performed. It includes removing and destroying portions of the system to reveal hidden areas and should only be used when it is a serious situation and absolutely necessary. Most visits only need a Level 1 inspection. Call us today for an appointment.
